Ecuador
The jewelery presented in this section are made of Tagua, a natural plant material harvested and worked by hand by Ecuadorian artisans.
The Tagua, also known as vegetable ivory because of its resemblance to animal ivory, is the result of polishing a seed of a palm tree in the Amazon forest (palm family Phytelephas). These seeds are harvested annually, sanded, polished, carved and colored.
